Jon Rossi is currently accepting new students. Jon has been teaching since 1999, both in private lessons and group lesson settings. Lessons are available in the following categories: Drum Set: Lessons are available in all styles, including single-and-double bass. The main focus is on listening and improvisation, although lessons with reading are also available. Marching Snare: A focus on marching snare techniques, including discussions of not just playing technique, but marching style and technique as well. Classical/Orchestral Snare: A focus on classical snare drum technique, including styles used in orchestras, symphonic and concert bands, etc. Hand Drums: Djembe, cajon, congas, bongos, and other hand drum lessons are also available. Students will study both modern application of hand drums, and the original, historical usages of each hand drum studied. The main focus will be on improvisation, although lessons with writing are also available. All lessons will teach proper technique (both traditional and all forms of matched grip are available), reading, improvisation, and listening skills. As the student/teacher relationship grows over time, each set of lessons will be personalized specifically for the student, combining well-established lesson books and original lessons written by the instructor.
